In the first half of 2012, internet advertising revenues climbed to an all-time high of $17 billion, representing a 14 percent increase year-over-year, according to IAB Internet Advertising Revenue Report released today by the Interactive Advertising Bureau (IAB) and prepared by PwC US. This performance is compared to the landmark $14.9 billion reported for the first six months of 2011.

Ad-Supported Internet Responsible for 5.1 Million U.S. Jobs, Contributes $530 Billion to U.S. Economy in 2011 Alone, According to IAB Study

Employment in the ad-supported internet ecosystem doubled over the past four years to 5.1 million, making it one of the most dynamic sectors in the recessionary American economy, according to a study by researchers at the Harvard University Business School, commissioned by the Interactive Advertising Bureau (IAB). The ecosystem contributed $530 billion to the U.S. economy last year, close to double 2007 figures, and accounted for 3.7 percent of the U.S. gross domestic product (GDP), an uptick from 2.1 percent four years ago.

IAB Names Michael Theodore Vice President, Training & Development, Newly Created Position Builds on Success of IAB Digital Media Sales Certification Program

The Interactive Advertising Bureau (IAB) announced the appointment of Michael Theodore to Vice President, Training and Development. In this new position, Theodore is responsible for managing and cultivating the IAB Digital Media Sales Certification program as well as developing and facilitating professional development curricula and training materials. Julie Van Ullen assumes Theodore’s previous position, Vice President, Member Services. In her new role, Van Ullen will manage IAB membership relations, including new member acquisition, retention and communication.

After mounting a comprehensive initiative to support the Digital Advertising Alliance (DAA) and its new “Your AdChoices” consumer education campaign, the Interactive Advertising Bureau (IAB) announced that it has hit a major milestone, securing two billion committed impressions for this pro bono promotional effort. Network Advertising Initiative (NAI) has also partnered with DAA to boost the campaign’s visibility.

Internet Ad Revenues Hit $31 Billion in 2011, Historic High Up 22% Over 2010 Record-Breaking Numbers

The IAB Internet Advertising Revenue Report for the full-year 2011 reveals that revenues soared to a landmark high of $31 billion. That milestone represents a 22 percent increase over 2010’s full-year number, which itself had been a record-breaker at $26 billion. The report, released by the Interactive Advertising Bureau (IAB) and prepared by PwC U.S., also unveils that fourth quarter revenues for 2011 hit a best-ever at $9 billion, marking a 15 percent increase over the third quarter 2011, which came in at $7.8 billion, and a 20 percent growth year-over-year in comparison to 2010’s $7.4 billion.
