While there’s nothing spectacular in running synchronized ads (master – companion ads), I’m sure you’ve all seen good and bad executions: strange positioning of ad slots, poorly designed creatives that do not serve the purpose of a master – companion ad etc. I really think the Speed Racer example below is an example of a good, solid implementation, with a consistent message across the two ads.
