NEW YORK – Epic Advertising (www.epicadvertising.com), the privately-held, New York-based online performance marketing firm, announced two key appointments within its executive suite. The announcement comes on the heels of a wave of recent positive news for the company, including the opening of its London office and strong 2008 revenue growth and business expansion.

The first appointment is the naming of Charles Nowaczek to the position of Chief Operating Officer. In this role, Mr. Nowaczek is responsible for Epic Advertising’s global business operations, including product development, program management, Sales support, facilities and administration, and oversight of the organization’s strategic and tactical initiatives. Additionally, he has successfully led the company’s first-ever Management Training Program, which has resulted in other key employee promotions internally. Previously, Mr. Nowaczek was the Senior Vice President of Operations for the company, and has been with Epic since March 2006. He is based in the New York City headquarters.

The second appointment was the naming of Young Kim to the position of Senior Vice President of Finance. In this role, Mr. Kim is responsible for all aspects of the company’s accounting and finances. Under his direction, he has overseen the group’s improvements in operational, budget and process efficiencies, the implementation of new projects and the support of the company’s international expansion. Previously, Mr. Kim was the Vice President of Finance for the company, and has been with Epic since 2005. He is based in the Toronto, Canada office.

The two appointments further solidify Epic’s senior executive team following a successful 2008, and will provide further momentum to its prospects for further growth in 2009. The company sees the appointment of Mr. Nowaczek and Mr. Kim as crucial in its ability to maintain flawless organizational execution and commitment to its product growth and corporate strategy roadmap.

“We are extremely proud of both Charlie and Young for their dedication, commitment, and achievement,” said Don Mathis, CEO of Epic Advertising. “They have each earned deep goodwill and respect from their peers, and solidifying these two well-deserved appointments was important overall for our company, covering its most important functions.

Mobile World Congress 2009

BARCELONA, Spain – Prospects for mobile advertising in 2009 are promising despite the economic downturn, but realism is called for, says Analysys Mason, the global telecoms adviser during Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.

The current economic downturn is placing significant pressure on the global advertising market. Consumers will be spending more time at home, and looking for free and inexpensive entertainment and information. Advertisers require high-impact media that are highly engaging and highly personal in order to deliver the best value for money. Mobile advertising has the potential to address both of these needs effectively.

“For mobile, the downturn creates a conflicting set of pressures. On the positive side, mobile advertising will benefit indirectly from the accelerating shift of advertising spend from traditional to digital media, particularly as consumer take-up of mobile entertainment services grows in line with greater take-up of 3G,” explains Alexandra Rehak, Principal Analyst at Analysys Mason.

Analysys Mason forecasts that, by 2012, mobile advertising will account for over 4% of total advertising spend in European countries that have relatively high mobile penetration and 3G network coverage, and for as much as 2% of advertising spend in emerging Central and Eastern European economies.

“However, for most players in mobile content markets, it is unrealistic to expect significant amounts of revenue from mobile advertising in the short-to-medium term,” explains Rehak. “The current economic environment will restrict investment in new technologies and services, and limit advertisers’ appetites for untested propositions, as well as potentially constraining consumer spend on new mobile content services that could support advertising, and on higher-spec mobile devices that support richer mobile entertainment applications.”

In order to survive the difficult economic conditions, mobile operators and their advertising partners should bear in mind the following trends.

* Search advertising will become a key platform on mobile. Major online search players, such as Google and Yahoo!, are better placed to attract mobile advertising spend than new entrants or mobile-only players, at least in the short term.
* Producers of highly popular branded content will look to capitalise on brand by selling mobile advertising directly. For example, UK pay-TV provider BSkyB began offering mobile display advertisements in November 2008, served on its mobile sports and news syndicated services.
* Developing markets and 16–25 year-old users will be particularly responsive to mobile advertising. Attention has centred on targeting advertisements by subscriber interests or behaviour, but simpler targeting (by consumer age or level of market development) can be very effective as a lower-cost starting point.
* Ad-funded services and applications will be a significant growth area. As consumers tighten their budgets, ad-funded or ad-subsidised games, music, video and even messaging services on the mobile present excellent opportunities for advertisers to reach targeted audiences.

“The market will experience something of a breathing period now, as advertising buyers reconfigure advertising budgets to suit the new economic conditions, and mobile operators focus on keeping subscribers on board and happy. To the extent that mobile advertising can help facilitate this, in a manner that is both attractive and highly cost effective from the advertiser’s perspective, all parties will benefit from its growth,” explains Rehak.

LONDON – Epic Advertising (www.epicadvertising.com), the privately-held, New York-based online performance marketing firm, announced the official opening of its London office. The announcement follows recent news of the company’s successful 2008 performance, impressive revenue growth, and the hiring of Rob Wilson in October 2008 as the SVP and General Manager of the company’s European business.

“The global trend that we are seeing in performance marketing, not just in North America but in Europe, puts us in a very good position to execute in 2009,” said Mr. Wilson. “It was very important for Epic to establish roots here in London, and to be able to hire talented employees to form the foundation of the company’s worldwide growth. To now have our London office fully opened, staffed and operational is critical in our ability to execute right away in the 1st quarter.”

Other key staffers in place in the London office include: Heidi Kinsey (Network Director), Jason Kilby (Director of Gaming Operations) and Anna Mazziotti (Office Manager).

The company said that the expansion into London was an opportunity created out of intense demand, as the UK market is currently the company’s second largest revenue-producing territory, holding a lot of opportunity for advertisers and publishers alike.

“We have seen, even in the early stages of focusing our efforts in Europe, that the opportunity to expand our footprint in the global performance marketing industry in the UK is there,” said Don Mathis, CEO of Epic Advertising. “The important first step of hiring a talented GM like Rob, and then putting key team members in place in a new office is now complete. We look forward to growing our presence in Europe even further under this team’s leadership.”

New Partnership Provides Deep Insight into Video Viewing Audience

LOS ANGELES – Break Media, the Internet’s premier entertainment community for men, announced a relationship with Quantcast that will enable the company to provide detailed audience-based demographic insights to its advertising clients and prospects. Specifically, Break Media will be implementing Quantcast Publisher across their video distribution network, a move which will allow marketers and agencies to analyze online video packages in similar fashion to how they evaluate TV ratings data.

“As younger audiences continue the rapid migration from television to online video consumption, advertisers are seeking data that allows them to confidently shift media budgets online at the same pace,” said Keith Richman, CEO of Break Media. “Our partnership with Quantcast will allow us to provide the information marketers need to ensure that their dollars are effectively spent reaching their target audience.”

As a leader in the out-of-home (OOH) digital media market, the TouchTunes digital jukebox network is in more than 35,000 bars, restaurants and retail locations throughout North America. TouchTunes acquired Barfly to complete its vision to provide an integrated network that goes beyond jukeboxes, creating a go-to entertainment and advertising center that provides music, games, advertising, interactivity and social networking.

“A targeted in-bar presence is not merely an addition to other media, it is an enhancement of our successful music and gaming network,” said Ron Greenberg, TouchTunes CMO and senior vice president of digital media. “When we add Barfly to the mix, we create one of the largest, most robust new media networks around. The opportunities to target audiences and provide a new fresh mix of content are unlimited.”

The Barfly in-bar media platform, which has successfully operated in approximately 150 bars in select metropolitan markets for the past year, was built as a fully legal way to create a brand conversation at the point of sale with bar patrons between the ages of 21-34, a demographic that has become increasingly media sensitive and tech savvy. Its content is a balanced mix of interactive entertainment and marketing messages from its partners.

“Joining TouchTunes will help us leverage our combined creativity and capabilities to quickly expand with target audiences and in key growth markets,” said Bob Weinschenk, CEO and president of Barfly. “The acquisition brings great value to both companies. TouchTunes and Barfly are mutually interested in helping brands to interact with consumers inside of bars in unique and fun ways that deliver real business results.”

Barfly has signed exclusive advertising and content development deals with leaders in the beer, wine and spirits industry, including Anheuser-Bush, Diageo and Skyy. The company works closely with advertisers to develop relevant messages and content that promotes key consumer brands in a highly contextual and targeted manner, unlike traditional signage and in-bar promotional materials. The content is shown via wrap-around graphics on televisions in bars. Barfly augments its ad line-up with information about the host bars’ events and specials, trivia contests and other interactive entertainment.

TouchTunes’ new alignment will further advertising partners’ opportunity to rapidly increase their reach and connect with key audiences in new and entertaining ways. Now, marketers with the world’s leading brands will be able to reach consumers effectively at the point of purchase and within the right environment. Additionally, Barfly also will allow TouchTunes to work more closely with its operator and distributor partners – in a new and innovative way – and will bring TouchTunes fresh opportunities for growth.

Barfly Networks currently has about 30 employees and is headquartered in Austin, Texas. The company will continue to be run by its current management team and will retain the Barfly name. The complete terms of the deal, effective immediately, were not released.

About TouchTunes Corporation

TouchTunes Music Corporation is the largest out-of-home interactive entertainment network, providing innovative solutions to over 35,000 bars, restaurants, retailers and other businesses in North America – three times larger than the nearest competitor. TouchTunes introduced the world’s first digital-downloading, pay-per-play commercial jukebox in 1998 and now operates the largest network of interactive entertainment systems, playing over 1.5 million songs per day. TouchTunes maintains a digital music library covering more than two million licensed tracks from every major record label, plus independent music distributors and a host of independent labels.

A privately held U.S. corporation, TouchTunes Corporation’s principal offices are in New York City, Montreal, Quebec, Canada, and Lake Zurich, IL.

About Barfly Interactive Networks

Barfly Networks is the leading “In-Bar Media” network – a new, disruptive technology that facilitates marketing of beer and spirits brands or products through the digital delivery of dynamic, interactive and customized content. Barfly is positioned to deliver top brand content with support from highly respected and known beer and spirits brands. Importantly, Barfly is 100 percent compliant with state liquor laws.

SAN FRANCISCO, CA, July 9, 2008 – VideoEgg, the rich media ad network that guarantees brand engagement, today introduced new features to give advertisers more effective engagement with users inside social environments at a guaranteed engagement price. The new features offer the following benefits to marketers:

* LIVE: Use real-time RSS feeds to continually update the ad experience
* LOCAL: Deliver zip code-specific messaging
* RICH: Easily deploy and track a rich multi-video ad experience to increase user interactivity
* SHOP: Bring the browser to the user, merchandising multiple items in a single real-time ad experience
* SHARE: Viral capabilities help spread the message through virtually any communication or social channel

The new features also enable marketers to better target vertical sectors, beginning with the automotive, entertainment, retail and wireless industries. VideoEgg’s automotive solution, for example, allows an ad unit to display nearby dealerships in interactive maps, while the entertainment industry can target local consumers by adding nearby movie listings to theatrical previews.

Leading brands such as Sprint and Puma are using VideoEgg’s network to connect users with brand content and encourage sharing across many social environments, such as Facebook, MySpace and Digg.

“VideoEgg provides an extremely rich ad experience with viral tools that let consumers accelerate and perpetuate our media buys,” said Edward McLoughlin, Media Director at Mindshare Interaction. “The VideoEgg pricing model also provides accountability as it guarantees engagement with our target audiences.”

VideoEgg offers brands an unprecedented approach to advertising, with a pricing model based on cost per engagement (CPE) that delivers accountability and unmatched insight into ad effectiveness. Ads are served for free, and advertisers pay only when a user engages with their brand content, providing a risk-free method to distributing highly targeted rich media content. In just four months since launching its CPE engagement model , over 50 leading brands including Hershey’s, Fox, Adidas, Nike, Comcast, Disney, GM, Mazda and Microsoft have advertised across the VideoEgg network for guaranteed engagement.

“The ad experience is ripe for innovation,” said Troy Young, chief marketing officer, VideoEgg. “We need to replace the banner with portable media experiences that leverage the power of video, feeds, maps and localization. We can get consumers to engage—we just have to make online advertising more interesting.”

Successful Beta Program Completed; Results Show 60% Increase in Campaign Value.

New York, NY – Epic Advertising, the New York-based online performance marketing company, today announced the official launch of Performance CPM (pCPM), a patent-pending metric that allows advertisers to track performance-marketing campaigns by measuring “induced visits.” Advertisers can now determine campaign effectiveness utilizing a new, more comprehensive approach.

The premise of pCPM is rooted in induced visits, or visits to an advertiser’s site tracked beyond direct clicks. A visit to an advertiser’s site is “induced” if it results in any way from an ad, even if there is no immediate response or direct click path from ad to site. This metric goes beyond traditional campaign measurement tactics by employing scientific techniques to discern the broadest types of cause and effect, excluding things like “accidental clicks.”

Along with measuring induced visits, the metric encompasses elements from traditional tracking methods – CPC, CPM and CPA – as well as inherent branding impacts to offer a more holistic view of an online advertising campaign’s success. Because pCPM involves only statistics, it avoids any retention of Personally Identifiable Information (PII).

Prior to its release, Epic Advertising’s pCPM was refined internally over a 6-month period and tested in beta on a handful of selected advertising campaigns. Beta test results demonstrated induced visits accounted for a 60% increase on top of clicks. The results also showed that the measurement helped to ascribe value to branding ads seen but not actually clicked.

“pCPM alters the way online advertisers can gauge the true value of their campaigns by allowing them to now measure true effectiveness and influence,” says Don Mathis, President of Epic Advertising. “For instance, if you see an ad without clicking but remember the company’s URL, and then visit the site later, we would capture and realize that induced visit as part of pCPM.”

Added Mathis, “This method lets our advertisers do two new things: they can see the impact of an ad beyond direct clicks, and they can put a solid measure of user-impact on their traditional brand-oriented CPM campaigns. It encompasses the standard metrics used in the marketplace as well, so it is more comprehensive. We believe our method, marrying marketing and technology, is the next step in online marketing campaign tracking and will serve as a model for the industry.”

Cygnus Business Media, Nielsen Business Media, Reed Business Information and McGraw-Hill Join 24/7’s New Network to Give Advertisers Greater Reach Across More Vertical Markets

NEW YORK – April 21, 2008 – 24/7 Real Media, Inc., the leading global digital marketing company, today announced a partnership with four major publishers to create BBN, the nation’s largest B2B online advertising network. Cygnus Business Media, Nielsen Business Media, Reed Business and The McGraw-Hill Companies are coming together for the first time to offer unprecedented reach and more efficient media buys for online advertisers.

BBN offers the most highly concentrated and far-reaching collection of B2B targets ever created, including the Web sites of leading publications such as Construction Equipment, Adweek, AviationWeek & Space Technology and CPA Technology Advisor. The BBN network reaches nearly 10 million monthly unique users, with approximately 60% of their audience consisting of small business owners and decision makers. This powerful network includes more than 200 Web properties covering dozens of industries to ensure advertisers reach their specific B2B targets.

Former CBS executive and MarketWatch co-founder, Derek Reisfield, has been appointed Chairman of the new venture. “The BBN will fill a critical need by connecting B2B publishers with the advertisers and agencies trying to reach their high quality audiences in a way that provides greater reach,” said Reisfield. “The BBN is excited to launch with so many great B2B sites. At launch, we are the leading network for advertisers to reach high quality B2B audiences.” The BBN will also be inviting other B2B publishers to participate later this year.

The BBN properties are the latest addition to 24/7’s digital media offering, which consists of over 1,500 sites serving advertising impressions in countries around the world. 24/7 Real Media’s network reaches around 150 million unique viewers each month, with participants achieving optimal ROI through the industry’s most advanced targeting solutions including lifecycle management, search retargeting, geo-demographic, content, behavioral, retargeting and custom.

“BBN gives advertisers unparalleled access to reach decision makers across the entire B2B spectrum with one large-scale purchase, through four of the industry’s largest and most highly respected publishers,” said David J. Moore, CEO of 24/7 Real Media, Inc. “We continually innovate in order to deliver more effective targeting and broader reach for our advertising partners, and have developed the preeminent network in a number of verticals such as B2B.”

The BBN network will be utilizing Open AdStream®, 24/7 Real Media’s proprietary, award-winning ad serving and campaign management platform, for the targeting and delivery of ads to their Web sites. Open AdStream combines the powerful business intelligence of Web analytics and behavioral targeting with a world-class management platform, delivering all digital formats across all digital platforms.

“This partnership will be a valuable opportunity for Cygnus to reach new advertisers and generate greater revenue for our online B2B properties,” said Carr Davis, CEO Cygnus Business Media. “24/7 Real Media has provided us with the tools and ad management expertise to ensure we are gaining the best value for our ad inventory across each of our publications.”

New York; April 8, 2008 – Azoogle.com, Inc., the New York online performance-based advertising network, announced today that the company will change its corporate name to Epic Advertising, creating a single brand for its now fully integrated performance marketing businesses and services. The company will retain the AzoogleAds name as a unit of Epic Advertising, maintaining continuity as an industry-leading, performance-based ad network.

The re-branding will unify the company’s services under one name, strategy and vision for its performance marketing business, both in North America and globally. It also signals the completion of the integration of Bazaar Advertising, the search marketing firm acquired by the company and announced in October, 2007.

Epic Advertising encompasses two main units focused on online consumer traffic acquisition: AzoogleAds and Bazaar Advertising. AzoogleAds continues to provide broad-based traffic acquisition services leveraging the company’s leading performance-based ad network business. Bazaar Advertising continues to provide search engine management and marketing services, specializing in keyword discovery, purchase and optimization of online search campaigns. Epic Advertising will market both units as an integrated suite of services to its advertisers, with a focus on direct response customer acquisition and performance marketing.

The Epic Advertising brand will also include the Epic Ad Center (EAC), a do-it-yourself tool-kit for small- to medium-sized businesses that automatically creates display, search and coupon ads on a performance basis. Advertisers are able to target their campaigns geographically, demographically and behaviorally using the ads.

Recently, the company announced its international expansion throughout Europe, Latin America and Asia-Pacific, and it expects the name change to facilitate that drive. The company plans to continue this expansion throughout 2008.

“This symbolizes an exciting evolution for our company,” says Don Mathis, President of Epic Advertising. “Until now we were known primarily for our performance-based ad services in North America via our AzoogleAds brand. Our new corporate name will help to showcase all of our services as a seamless offering to advertisers, highlighting our multi-channel approach to performance marketing. As our company moves forward as a global enterprise, we’re working to take performance marketing to the next level.”
