<p>NEW YORK - AdoTube, the Exponential-owned in-stream advertising specialist, announced the release of its <a href="http://cts.businesswire.com/ct/CT?id=smartlink&amp;url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.slideshare.net%2FExponential_Interactive%2Fadotube2012globalformatindex&amp;esheet=50599349&amp;lan=en-US&amp;anchor=2012+Global+Format+Index&amp;index=1&amp;md5=5aee9aa5dda8c364dc95a2717ec01d99" target="_blank">2012 Global Format Index</a>, which showcases data from more than 9,500 campaigns and nearly 13.5 billion impressions. The research shows that interactive pre-rolls not only drove the highest click-through rates (CTR), but also demonstrated a significant increase in engagement rates over the previous year, growing by 80% from 2011 to 2012. The highest growth by region was found in Russia at 8.2%, followed by 7.7% in Southeast Asia and 5.6% in the Middle East.<span id="more-24769"></span></p>

<p>“This tremendous increase in consumer engagement makes sense. The industry has really evolved over the past year, providing new and innovative ways for consumers to interact with brands while watching video,” said Steve Jones, chief of strategy and operations of AdoTube.</p>
<p>The index also revealed that marketers should vary their in-stream video length depending on brand goals. To drive video completions, brands should consider 15-second spots instead of 30. These shorter spots achieved a 20% higher viewing completion rate. However, for brands looking to drive traffic or engagement, the 30-second spot proved more effective with 19% percent and 24% higher rates than 15-second ads, respectively.</p>
<p>AdoTube found that including a “dismiss option” within the ad creative yields higher user engagement. Only 11% of users elect to dismiss AdoTube full-stream units, compared to 55% to 85% for YouTube TrueView ads, and an average of 1.1% of users opted to re-engage with the unit via AdoTube’s leave behind reminder unit, Sniper. AdoTube discovered that including the dismiss button can reduce page abandonment by as much as 8%.</p>
<p>Jones commented: “Historically, AdoTube has provided innovative and dynamic ways to engage audiences. We were thrilled that the study showed AdoTube exceeding industry engagement and CTR benchmarks across all markets globally.”</p>

<p>Younger demographics, ages 18-34 and 35-54 are more engaged with in-stream ads overall, with a 17% higher average click-through and engagement rate and 8% higher video completion rate compared to the 55+ demographic. In particular, the index showed people between the ages of 18-34 are most likely to click on content for real estate (83%) and consumer packages goods (38%) when compared to older demographics. Click-through rates for ages 35-54 are higher for food services (62%) and government (12%) for the 55+ demographic.</p>
<p>Top verticals by gender include consumer packaged goods and fashion, with 28% and 19% higher click-through rates for females, while web services and gaming have 52% higher click-through rates for males. Sports and electronics secure higher engagement rates for males (56% and 17%, respectively), while retail verticals secure 11% higher video completion rates for females.</p>
<p>The index findings include data from more than 9,500 AdoTube campaigns running from Q1’2010 through Q4’2012, which provide an understanding for the increased success of interactive pre-roll and consumer engagement rates by demographic and market globally.</p>

<p>MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. - Ooyala, the leading video streaming and monetization platform provider, today announced that it has developed a Twitter Video Card solution, in close collaboration with Twitter, that enables Ooyala customers a turnkey solution to embed videos directly into their Twitter streams for instant playback. Previously, users were only able to include a link to a video in Twitter. This solution inserts a thumbnail of the video directly into the stream so followers can click and play directly without leaving Twitter.<span id="more-23578"></span>First deployed by sports broadcaster ESPN to better serve its 24 million online video viewers, Ooyala’s Twitter Card solution provides media companies, broadcasters and brands a new way to distribute and monetize video content delivered via Twitter across desktops and mobile devices. In addition, the solution can increase the discovery and sharing of video content and optimize engagement through social and mobile by eliminating the barriers to view content directly on Twitter.</p>
<p>“Twitter is a growing source of inbound referral traffic and outbound content distribution for online media publishers and broadcasters,” said Jonathan Wilner, senior director, business product management at Ooyala. “Consumers today are at the intersection of social and mobile, and demanding easy and fast access to video content. Our ability to deliver video directly into the Twitter stream is a major step forward for publishers who want to drive viewer engagement in real-time.”</p>
<p>As a result of the close collaboration with Twitter, the Ooyala solution has been certified by Twitter, meaning customers can quickly and easily integrate and distribute video content directly into their streams across all platforms &#8212; including desktop, mobile web and native smartphone and tablet apps for both iOS and Android &#8212; and trust that the player will work seamlessly within Twitter. The solution works via an Ooyala Twitter SDK and automatic hosting for Twitter Cards. The turnkey API from Ooyala automatically generates the necessary Twitter tags so that a video can be inserted onto a video landing page to enable Twitter Cards.</p>
<p><b>Powerful Solution when paired with Discovery</b></p>
<p>The technology works seamlessly with Ooyala Discovery, which enables video content providers to increase view-related revenue by algorithmically recommending highly relevant content within the Ooyala Player. For example, if a user watches a highlight from a football game within the ESPN Twitter stream, they could receive a recommendation to also watch highlights from the post-game press conference. <p>NEW YORK - Tremor Video, the largest independent online video technology company, today announced that it is the first media network to serve nearly all of its in-stream video ads in large player environments. Tremor Video served 98.3 percent of its ads in players 400 pixels or larger in the month of June, providing advertisers with an experience that has proven more likely to drive consumer engagement.<span id="more-17444"></span></p>
<p>Tremor Video has found a direct relationship between video player size and ad performance like engagement and completion rates. Proprietary analytics data showed that when viewers watched a video within a larger sized online player, they were far more likely to interact with the ad. Engagement rates nearly doubled when ads were served within a 400-pixel player, and they continued to climb for video ads served in even larger players.</p>
<p>Viewer habits also began to resemble traditional TV watching behavior as player size expanded. Viewers were relaxed and are far more likely to sit through an ad before watching their selected content, as demonstrated by the rising completion rates Tremor Video saw across its network. Approximately 62 percent of all viewers watched an ad through to completion when it appeared in a 400 to 500-pixel environment. Completion rate jumped up to nearly 75 percent when the ad appeared in a player between 500 and 700 pixels.</p>
<p>“Online video is an excellent way to support a traditional TV buy, especially when viewers are treating online video the same way they do TV programming,” said Ron Amram, Senior Media Director at Heineken USA. “They are turning to online video during primetime, and they’re doing so on devices with high-definition screens that offer TV-like viewing experiences. We want to be on those screens in larger video environments.”</p>
<p>By prioritizing video environments 400 pixels or larger, Tremor Video is also ensuring its brand advertising partners that their ads only appear within actual video streams, and are never served within 300 by 250 pixel display ads, which are sometimes incorrectly counted as pre-roll units.</p>
<p>Tremor Video’s proprietary technology helps optimize ad delivery toward brand performance and provides full transparency into what factors are driving that performance, Because larger sized players drive better engagement and completion rates, the technology will target these environments for ad delivery.
