Nielsen’s Twitter TV Solutions Will be Available in Italy in 2014
New York – Nielsen, a global information and measurement company, announced plans to bring its Twitter TV solutions to Italy in fall 2014. Already used in the U.S. by more than 70 clients, Nielsen’s Twitter TV solutions enable networks, agencies, and advertisers to measure, understand, and act on TV-related conversation on Twitter. These solutions include Nielsen Twitter TV Ratings, the first-ever measure of the total activity (Tweets, Unique Authors) and reach (Impressions, Unique Audience) of TV-related conversation on Twitter.
“Nielsen is dedicated to understanding consumer behavior. The social TV phenomenon—people enhancing their live TV experience through Twitter—is a perfect example of a consumer trend that’s important for the industry to measure and understand,” said Andrew Somosi, CEO, Nielsen SocialGuide. ‘We’re seeing that this is not just a U.S. phenomenon and are excited to bring our Twitter TV solutions to Italy next year.”
Nielsen’s Twitter TV solutions enable TV networks to measure the full Twitter engagement surrounding their programs, to quantify the effectiveness of Twitter TV-related audience engagement strategies, and to better understand the relationship between Twitter and tune-in. In addition, Nielsen’s Twitter TV solutions also assist agencies and advertisers in making data-driven media planning and buying decisions that incorporate the full impact of Twitter TV.
Nielsen Twitter TV Ratings, which will be produced via the exclusive, multi-year agreement that Nielsen and Twitter announced in December 2012, will be a separate set of measures that complement traditional Auditel TV Ratings in Italy. Auditel is the TV Joint Industry Committee in Italy, to which Nielsen supplies data. Nielsen Twitter TV Ratings, however, will not change the traditional Auditel TV Ratings.
